Consignment Sales abound in Omaha about every six months, if you are looking for them. They are great for finding gently used children's items, like clothing, shoes, toys, and furniture. They even have maternity clothes. This is the fall sale for Munchkin Junction, one of the smaller sales, but one with really nice quality items. Come prepared to shop for winter clothes and snow gear along with the regular items. I think they even have a section of Halloween Costumes!

Here are the details:

August 20-22nd, 2008
9 AM to 8 PM daily
CASH ONLY
4200 N. 204th St.
Elkhorn, NE
Hosted at Bethany-Lutheran Church

For more details see their website. There is information also on how to be a consignor.

O! What a Duck Race

This Saturday, July 26th is the O! What a Duck Race, a race of rubber duckies to raise money for the Omaha Food Bank. It takes place at Heartland of America Park in downtown Omaha and is free to watch. Adopting ducks costs a little money but it is for a good cause. If you are looking for something fun to do with your family, go and check it out!

The Henry Doorly Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the country and has plans to build a Madagascar Exhibit in the future. It is a wonderful place to take kids of all ages and is open year-round. A family pass is available and is an excellent deal, allowing two adults and all dependent children admission for a full year. Don't forget the brand new Butterfly and Insect Exhibit that opened in May 2008. It is a total immersion exhibit where butterflies roam freely through the room and could even land on you!

Here are some other fun things that happen daily at the zoo:

Bears--Durham Bear Canyon at 11 AM
Shark Feeding on Wednesday and Saturdays only--inside the Scott Aquarium at 1:30 PM
Sea Lions--Owen Sea Lion Pavilion at 2:30 PM
River Otters--Small Mammals at 3 PM
Monkeys--Small Mammals at 3:30 PM

The zoo is also a great place to get some exercise. Because it is so large, one loop is quite the walk. Go for two loops and you will be in excellent shape! M2M plans on going to the zoo more frequently for playgroup in the fall. Keep checking back for the updated playgroup schedule!

Don't forget to put the Zoolympics on your calendar. This event will feature Flumpa, the six-foot-six tree frog and the singing scientist, Wendy, along with stations throughout the zoo where you can test your athletic skills. The Zoolympics will be held on Saturday, September 6th from 10 AM - 4 PM.

I am very excited about the new polo shirts we are offering this year. They are a more professional shirt, designed for students and faculty alike. The design will be embroidered, about 3 inches wide on the left side, like most business casual shirts. Here is a picture of the design which will be available on either a white or navy polo shirt. We are also hoping to offer this design on t-shirts as well as the polos if you are more interesting in the casual style. We plan on having a few available during Creighton's M1 Orientation activities, including the Welcome Barbecue. Stop by and see them!
